• refusing to pick a niche
• stressed about fitting boxes

And, let's be real...

You can't stick to anything for longer than 5 min.

You're in good company, cz....

I'm the textbook definition of no niche.

Here's the thing.

I've still succeeded at 10 different goals...

In 10 years of not having life figured out:

My 10 skill no-niche resumé.

(I'll be listing a bunch of stuff but it's fun)

1) Editing.

Ok ok let's be fair for a sec.

This is kinda.... the closest I've come to a niche.

I'm a video editor –

working in advertising + broadcast has been my bread + money maker for the past 7 years.

But yaa... I've never been exclusive:

2) Languages.

See, I don't like German. I don't identify with it.

(squares, boxes, spread sheets, judgy McMansion owners...)

My first out: foreign cultures, and foreign languages.

One foot out of highschool, I ran off to Spain.

1 year of Au pair, then staying to study.

(real reason: I wanted that sexy accent)

Did it work?

Meh.

My study buddies called me Klaus... and they weren't shy about it.

(yup, the American Dad Klaus)

How did that help again?

Sounding like a fish plays out brilliant for work.

My love for everything non-German landed me a job translating videos to

• English
• French
• Italian
• Portuguese
• Spanish

(editing in the voice overs but listing languages looks cool)

3) Film making.

Back in college, 0 experience –

my friend + me did the promo vid for a tech startup 'Medroom'.

Us freaking out?

You bet.

Us knowing our shit?

You bet not.

Us winning anyway?

HELL YEA.

Our clients + us won the Google contest 'Call to Innovation'...

Landing us tickets to Silicon Valley.

Oh, just btw....

Today... 'Medroom' is called 'Savana'.

But let's dial back the fancy.

4) Milking cows.

You read that right.

I'm in my 8th year of helping out on my fav dairy farm.

(could be my niche after all)

'Lessa, why.'

Well, I'm glad I asked myself:

I love cows, the family + the out-of-your-head experience.

But also......... I grew up on that farm.

There's not enuf hours in the day to make up for the havoc I've caused.

(I kinda owe them)

5) Design.

I've always loved drawing, and I've always loved cute stuff.

Why not try making money off it?

In 2020, I decided to learn motion design.

(I also decided to build 3 websites)

Am I an expert?

Nop.

Still good enough to add all things design to my services.

(happy freelancing with something else every year)

6) Belly Dance.

Covid hit, I wanted to stay fit...

And I don't see the point in wasting my life on sit-ups.

(you stop for a week and lose all progress)

So if ure frustrated like me + wanna train something lasting...

Go for a bunch of Shakira moves.

A word of warning tho...

Her hips do lie cz it's hard af.

Didn't add that to my services.

7) Photography.

Ever seen round holiday homes?

Yaaa, me neither.

When spotting the houses in all their cuteness...

You know you want all in.

The 1 thing you can do is prep and cold pitch your services.

(even if you haven't sold photography before)

So did I scare?

You bet.

(again)

I also got the job.

(happy freelancing with smth else)

8) Psychology.

Family, relationships, personal issues...

I got em all.

(+ a huge fascination for the human psyche.)

Over the past 5 years, I've studied what makes humans tick –

and took every personality test out there.

16 personalities?

I got em all.

9) Writing.

Since knowing how to hold a pen, I've loved to write –

but never gave it much thought past my college career.

(the most writing I did was grocery lists... the occasional email rant)

Lemme tell you right here:

Starting a blog is the most liberating thing you can do.

You learn how to think, write + complain online.

Is there a higher ROI?

But yaaaa... u still need to make a living, rite?

Since you + me want to make this our business...

How about some

10) Personal branding.

My newest + shiniest obsession.

The thing that pushed me to build a brand 14 months ago?

It's called Dan Koe –

And I'm grateful af he made me start X.

Here's the thing.

You always feel like you're lacking.

Lacking skill.
Lacking clarity.
Lacking the common denominator in your interests.

Turns out...

It's been you all along.

I'm serious.

You DON'T have to be an expert –

and you DON'T have to pick a niche.

The 1 thing you need to be is stubborn.

Stubborn enough to put in the reps...

to get over the beginner stage.

There's no time wasted... cz

ALL this stuff you're learning pays out.

What does my journey leave you with?

Your barriers are not physiological...

They're emotional.

(you're just making stuff up in your head)

Get over yourself.

Stop the niche talk.

Start building something meaningful to you.

Don't sweat the 'what' –
you'll change paths anyway.

I'm disappointed with you.

Content creation is taking over.

Social media ain't going anywhere.

You're still EARLY, and you can do this.
